GCI Expands Deployment of Turin's TraverseŽ Platform to Launch New Business Ethernet Services

Alaska's Largest Telecommunications Carrier Rolls Out New E-Line and E-LAN Ethernet Services for Business Customers

Petaluma, CA, June 11, 2008 – Turin Networks, Inc., a leading global provider of innovative Wireless Backhaul, Carrier Ethernet and Converged Services solutions for wireline and wireless network operators, today announced that GCI, Alaska's largest telecommunications provider, has deployed the TraverseŽ Multiservice Transport Switch to launch flexible new business Ethernet service offerings for its customers.

GCI, a Turin customer since 2003, first installed Turin's Traverse platform to light a redundant, 1700+-mile transoceanic OC-192/10G network connecting Anchorage, Alaska and Seattle, Washington. Upgrades to GCI's first transoceanic system and expansion of their terrestrial long-haul capacity added Alaska's capital (Juneau) and second largest community (Fairbanks) to the list of locations using the Traverse platform. GCI recently expanded its relationship with Turin Networks by deploying Traverse systems to deliver flexible Ethernet services throughout the Anchorage metropolitan area. Other expansions, including communities as far north as Prudhoe Bay, are currently underway.

"Our business customers require high speed Ethernet connectivity that offers increased bandwidth flexibility without compromising reliability or security," said Shawn Fitzpatrick, Director of Transport & Data at GCI. "We selected Turin's Traverse platform to deliver our new Ethernet services because it provides a versatile and carrier-grade solution that allows us to leverage our existing transport infrastructure to deliver a broad portfolio of business Ethernet services."

GCI's Ethernet service offerings include private line (E-Line) services for high-speed point-to-point transport, as well as multipoint transparent LAN (E-LAN) services. E-LAN services allow businesses to interconnect different sites distributed throughout Alaska's major metropolitan areas over GCI's optical backbone using standard, cost-effective Ethernet technology. Ethernet services are available at both 10/100 and 1,000 Mbps rates, with bandwidth flexibility in 1 Mbps increments.

"Turin is proud to once again be trusted to be a key component in GCI's network" said Duane Button, Turin's vice president of territory sales in North America. "Recent wins with leading service provider customers like GCI demonstrate that our iConnectT for Carrier Ethernet solution is well positioned in the market, and that we are continuing to listen to our customers' requirements."
